To all Peace Center Members/Community,
We hope this message finds you well during this hectic time. So much has changed in just the past month, it can be hard to remain focused on what is important. We hope everyone is staying safe and we are extending our best wishes and thoughts to the millions of people across the planet affected by this pandemic.

Despite not being able to hold in person events, we are still intent on remaining connected to you all and advancing the mission of the Center. We want to continue to educate, organize, and inspire others in our community to get involved to take action.

  • We have modified our annual Art and Writing Contest to reflect changes necessitated by COVID-19.
  • We have extended our deadline to MAY 16th and have created a google form submission where students may submit photographs or scans of their visual artwork, along with any writing submissions or nomination forms for the Youth Activist Grant.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to have our Student Climate Justice Summit that was scheduled to take place this month, featuring student-led workshops, small group discussions, and a chance to connect/organize with other climate activists. However, we are still working diligently with our cohort of student leaders to come up with an alternative plan of action for mobilizing virtually around climate. We have plans in the works for a series of online webinars, live video conferencing, and articles written by students. Please stay tuned!
  • Our weekly email calendar blast will include webinars, virtual workshops, and online resources we find valuable, enlightening, and critical during this time. If you know of any events taking place virtually related to social justice, foreign relations, climate change, or politics coming up soon you think might be a good fit, please contact the Center via email @ andrew@ourpeacecenter.org

Our office also plans to remain open. As always, I can be reached by phone at 925-933-7850 or by email, andrew@ourpeacecenter.org. We thank you for your understanding. Wishing everyone good health!
Best,Andrew Kodama, E.D
