Currently, the Elephant In The Room is the existential threat of nuclear weapons. The great majority of humanity believes that Mutual Assured Destruction is preventing Nuclear War. They are believing a LIE! There is NO DEFENSE against an accidental or “sneak” attack!
Nuclear Terror Today is a website created by Center member Robert Manning, who after reading “The Doomsday Machine- Confessions Of A Nuclear War Planner” by Daniel Ellsberg, met with and interviewed the esteemed whistleblower/author. In doing so he learned a great deal about the evolution of modern warfare and nuclear weapons.
In sum, he concluded that it is truly a miracle that millions of citizens throughout the world have not been killed due to the use of a nuclear weapon. Examples include: The Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962; Stanislav Petrov who thankfully ignored Russian protocols; An event in South Carolina in 1961 when a 24 Megaton bomb had five out of six safety devices fail.
Basically we are betting that there will not be either a mechanical failure like the Challenger Space Shuttle, human error, or another terrorist attack. Trusting to Lady Luck is a fool’s errand.
