As you may know, Victoria Nuland has been nominated for Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs. She is a terrible choice. She was an advisor to Dick Cheney promoting the 2003 invasion of Iraq. In 2014, Nuland facilitated the Ukraine coup that helped create a civil war costing 10,000 lives and displacing over a million people. Before the coup, when the European Union was trying to mediate, she infamously said “F*** the EU!”.
Nuland advocates radically increased military spending, dubious NATO expansion, and dangerous belligerence toward Russia.
As Medea Benjamin, of CODEPINK, has written,
“Victoria Nuland would be a ticking time-bomb in Biden’s State Department, waiting to sabotage his better angels much as she undermined Obama’s second-term diplomacy.”
Though she has been nominated, Victoria Nuland has not yet been confirmed. Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center is joining with WorldBeyondWar, CODEPINK, Veterans for Peace and others to STOP the confirmation of Victoria Nuland.
