The poster says: Peace Talk Resolving Conflict

  1. Stop. Stop what you are doing. Let go of the thing you are fighting over. Be quiet.
  2. Calm Down. Close eyes. Breath mindfully. Open eyes when calm. When all eyes are open we are ready.
  3. Attitude Check. Humility: Don’t assume you are right. Compassion: Care about each other. Practicality: Focus on solutions. Flexibility: Be willing to compromise.
  4. Kind Speaking. Youngest speaks first. Be honest. Tell the whole truth. Use a calm clear voice. Don’t accuse. Say, “I feel” or “it seems.” Clearly explain what the problem is. Make a suggestion to fix the problem.
  5. Respectful Listening. Don’t interrupt. Trust first in speakers honesty. Try to understand person’s feelings. Focus on solutions. Not who is to blame. Respond to the problem not your ego.
  6. Agree on a solution.

Webinar: “Dan Ellsberg: The Moral Giant and the Man”

Zoom Registration Here | Thursday, July 13th / 8:30AM PST

Organized by our friends at Just World Educational!

Two ‘Just World Educational’ board members, Richard Falk and Nora Barrows-Friedman each had lengthy relationships with the heroic, recently deceased whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg– relationships that were both political and personal.

In our webinar, Nora and Richard will share some of the poignant personal remembrances of how the famed Dr. Ellsberg affected their lives. And together with Just World Ed President Helena Cobban they will reflect on the key importance of Dan Ellsberg’s moral clarity and moral commitments in an era when our own century’s greatest whistleblower, Julian Assange, has been incarcerated for many years in England, at the behest of U.S. authorities determined to punish him for revealing gross U.S. misdeeds in Iraq and elsewhere. [Link to register]

Join us as we explore some of Richard and Nora’s key memories of Dan Ellsberg, as well as the contrast between a Western media environment that has lavishly lauded Dan’s truly history-making whistleblowing while it stands largely indifferent to the present fate of Julian Assange. We are planning this webinar as a loving and very present-focused homage to a great man that can also, we hope, be a gift to the family members he left behind, as proof that Dan Ellsberg’s courageous spirit lives on
