Journalist Frank Sterling was arrested on Friday, September 17, 2021, at a demonstration in Antioch. Activists were protesting a “Back the Blue” event honoring outgoing Police Chief Tammany Brooks, who had protected police officers involved in police brutality and had even hired a former S.F. policeman who had killed a homeless man.  Frank Sterling was tackled and tasered, his journalist equipment confiscated, and is facing criminal charges of resisting arrest.  This information comes to the Peace Center directly from our friends at Veterans for Peace – who are seeking to boost visibility for Frank and ensure that his charges are dropped.

Frank Sterling is Native-American and a resident of Antioch.  At KPFA 94.1 FM, he is a long-time journalist, a producer of Friday evening’s Full Circle, a programmer, and trainer of Pacifica’s KPFA apprentices. It is imperative that the peace community stands in solidarity with Frank at this time!
